Jazz guitar workshop

Dear friends of the cultivated jazz guitar,

the title of the next workshop after the summer break by Marcus Klossek at Super Sessions (date to follow) is: BLUES HARD BOP LICKS YOU MUST KNOW

It will be looking at some of the most electrifying riffs ever to come from a jazz guitar! From his debut album The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery in 1959 right up to his untimely death in 1968, Wes Montgomery made an incredible contribution to jazz guitar performance!

Influenced by bebop from the 1940s and later enriched with soulful blues influences from the 1960s, Montgomery created improvisations that usually began with single notes, then transitioned into his characteristic octave style, and ended with a chord solo.

Reason enough to take an in-depth look at some of the highlights from the master’s repertoire in this workshop:

So there will be plenty of licks that can still be applied today, from blues and standard repertoire all the way to soul and pop songs! All examples, of course, as always written out in sheet music + tabs to take home. Plus, there are matching mp3 playalongs for all licks, so you can play the whole thing in a band context!

Marcus studied music at the Amsterdam University of the Arts and put the finishing touches on his guitar playing in masterclasses with jazz luminaries like Jack deJohnette, Jim Hall and Pat Metheny! Through countless club and festival gigs he is one of the busiest musicians in the German scene and has already released 8 albums with his Marcus Klossek Trio!
